SIN DOLOR Official Selection of Brooklyn Film Festival, NFFTY, SouthSide Film Festival; wins two awards at HollyShorts!

SIN DOLOR (2012) Dir. Joe Greco
SIN DOLOR (photo left), directed by Joe Greco, took home the Best Editing Award and Showbiz's Future Filmmaker Award at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Hollywood, CA, which ran from August 9-16, 2012 at the historic Grauman's Chinese Theater. SIN DOLOR was the only film to take home two awards! Congrats to director Joe Greco and the entire cast and crew! It was a blast working on this film.
Coming up, SIN DOLOR will be screening at the SouthSide Film Festival in Bethlehem, PA on June 13 at 5:20pm and June 15 at 5:15pm.
The film was also an official selection at the Brooklyn Film Festival, National Film Festival for Talented Youth, Brantford Film Festival (Ontario), New Hampshire Film Festival, Silicon Valley Film Festival, San Jose Short Film Festival, Connecticut Film Festival, and recently returned to its filming location for the Rincon International Film Festival in Puerto Rico.
In March 2012, the score for SIN DOLOR was the recipient of an Original Score Award at the First Run Film Festival. I had no idea the film was being considered for an award, so it was an exciting surprise! A huge thank you to all the musicians, engineers, assistants, friends, and supporters who helped take this score from an idea to a beautifully recorded reality.
If you haven't yet seen the trailer for SIN DOLOR, check it out here! For more info and pictures, you can check out the film's Facebook page, and you can also find it on IMDB.

Tweets in Tahrir Square, an operetta in collaboration with Steve M. Boyle
Recently, I collaborated once again with theater director Steve M. Boyle, with whom I worked on Off Broadway performances of Shakespeare's Hamlet and The Winter's Tale, on a short operetta, a musical retelling of the Egyptian revolution of 2011, told using tweets from the events surrounding the uprising in Tahrir Square. The piece features actors and singers, musicians, and technology, combining to allow the audience to feel real-time history, told through a unique perspective.
Tweets was performed April 5-6, 2013 in San Jose, CA. More information can be found on the SJRep Emerging Artists Lab's website: http://www.sjrep.com/experience/real/night2.php

The panel of judges was led by Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Wrestler), who said upon the announcement, "It is an absolutely incredible film that everyone should see." Congratulations to Yuanchen and everyone who worked to make this film a reality! It was an honor working with you.

SIN DOLOR receives Sloan Film Production Award, Gidro-Frank Production Award, & Clive Davis Music Award
Joe Greco's film SIN DOLOR, based on the short story by T.C. Boyle, was recently awarded a generous $25,000 grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The film also received the Thomas William Gidro-Frank Film Production Award, and the film's score (which hasn't been recorded yet) received the Clive Davis Award for Excellence in Music in Film. It's been a great ride working with Joe, and I'm very excited to record the score in the coming weeks! You can check out SIN DOLOR's official website at http://www.sindolormovie.com/
